KPT系列拖缆电动平车运行时靠平车所拖的电缆供电。电缆的一端接在地面电源上，另一端经电动平车的铁夹装置引入平车。该型电动平车的特点是台面高度较低，装卸重物容易，但运行距离不能太长，一般不能超过50m,过长容易缠绕电缆。
